Thanks for your interest in learning at our farm. Beautiful Edibles doesn't have a formal class schedule but we do have several ways that we teach others. Depending on the level of structure and depth of knowledge you are looking for, here are some options.
- Volunteering at the farm - plan a couple hours to help with projects and take a farm tour. We usually coordinate these on Saturdays but can be flexible with days. It's a good time to ask questions and get hands on experience. There may be other volunteers or staff here at the same time and we may not be working with you the whole time.
- Consultation sessions - We have a few paid consulting times available to help with specific farm questions, design, skills, resources or hands on instruction. The rate is $100 per hour plus travel costs. Trading services and bartering are possible, just make an offer and we would be glad to discuss. Referrals are available from local and national consults. (Look for our new online appointment system coming soon.)
- Farm Tours - A few tour dates are usually available each season for groups. We do not have parking or staff available for large groups and request that they split into smaller multiple tour times. Non profits and farm related organizations are given first priority. We do not charge for tours but accept speaking fees to offset our time. Tours usually include sampling and a Q&A session with us.
- Beginning Farmer Mentoring - if someone is interested in learning to farm as a full or part-time business, we will consider mentoring them over multiple years. This is usually after a volunteer or consulting session and really depends on our availability. This is a mutually beneficial relationship that we commit to jointly. Several of our family and friend's farms are currently mentoring with us. We have limited time available for mentoring.
